I started drinking Kombucha because I knew it was supposed to be good for me. However, I honestly had no idea *why*. Fast forward to a quick google search: “why is Kombucha good for me?” There I found out the answer is PROBIOTICS. I also found out that probiotics weren’t just limited to yogurt and Kombucha, you can also take probiotic supplements – like SimplyBiotix – to get more healthy bacteria in your system.

However, I still wanted to know exactly what probiotics were and why they were good. I knew they helped support better digestion, but I didn’t know about all the other benefits of probiotics. So let’s breakdown what probiotics are and a number of it’s benefits…

What Are Probiotics?

Probiotics are the “good” beneficial bacteria that our bodies need to stay healthy and balanced. They are beneficial and can help keep you regular, improve digestion, and boost your immunity…and even help improve your skin’s health and appearance.

3 Benefits of Probiotics

1. Improved Digestive Funciton

This is the benefit most people associate with probiotics. Probiotics are known for treating all kinds of digestive issues including diarrhea and excessive gas and bloating. They improve the balance of good gut bacteria (versus bad bacteria) that you need for better digestion.

2. Improved Immune System

Probiotics can help to boost the immune system and ward off inflammatory responses in the gut. When necessary, inflammation in the intestines creates a pathway for the immune system to carry out an attack against invading viruses and bacteria. However, when inflammation is present but not needed, illnesses can occur. Probiotics offer a beneficial defense against the effects caused by this unwarranted inflammation.

3. Healthier Skin

The GI tract and skin are both organs of detoxification. When we have more bad bacteria than good bacteria in our gut, a lot of problems can arise — including chronic inflammation, which is a cause of acne and other skin problems. So, if you are looking to clear up your skin, you should think about starting with your gut.
